About ShowBee
Are you looking for that special extra for yourself? Here’s a nice challenge: look for something that you find very special, something that you especially want to surprise yourself with.
That’s how my ShowBee story started.
For me, that “extra” means making my own lingerie set. Something with which I could surprise myself and especially where I could always add a personal touch.
The idea originated while traveling in Florida, while eating a piece of key lime pie. In this cake, a fresh green-yellow color is combined with a surprising sweet-sour exotic taste. That, together with the relaxed atmosphere, gave me a nice idea. An idea that wouldn’t let me go. Key lime would be the first element that could give a personal touch to my own lingerie collection. That key lime color can be found in our logo and in certain accents of our sets.
The great thing about a ShowBee set and the accompanying accessories is that you can choose to hide it, as a nice secret for yourself, or you can just show it. In order to make others curious about what you are wearing.
As an entrepreneur, it is of course also important to know whether there is a market for your product. I don’t come from an entrepreneurial environment at all, so uncertainty and fear of failure sometimes arise. After several occasions to test the concept (Flair Award, Utopolis Ladies Night,…), I understood that the ShowBee concept has potential: not only in lingerie, but also as swimwear.
I felt that I was going to color more and more outside the lines of the usual lingerie collections with my ideas. However, I needed some more “baggage”. For example, I experimented with different materials to make my set more refined, but I also found out that there are technical limitations to design.
In addition, I took courses in lingerie making, I let a model walk around with a first homemade set, visited fairs and talked to numerous people about ShowBee.
It became more and more clear that the essence of ShowBee was in adding a touch to lingerie, subtle or striking, through fun accessories.
That’s how my first collection was born: the ShowBee ShowMe.
In the meantime, we are now a few years further, but my motto for ShowBee remains: “Create, Surprise, My female challenge”. It nicely sums up what ShowBee wants to do: inspire women to be creative with an outfit themselves, to add small details and reveal or hide facets. This way every woman can create her own unique outfit and make herself feel a little more special.
